Image: © Roger D Kidd Taken: 25 May 2009

Taken from under Boat Inn Bridge. On the left just out of sight is 1990s housing with its own private moorings. Ahead is Cowley tunnel, 81 yards (74 metres) in length. It was supposed to be almost 700 yards long (about 640 metres), but dangerous rock faults made it unsafe, and a deep cutting through the rock had to be made instead. Here is the same canal from on top of the bridge: in June 2006 Image
