The present church dates from the 13th century. The site is possibly one of the oldest Christian sites in Wales, being on the edge of the Roman fort of Image The dedication is to Peblig/Publicus, a Romano-Briton related to Magnus Maximus/Macsen Wledig and Constantine/Cystennin. The area is now highly urbanised and the churchyard and cemetery are vandalised and frequented by drinkers and drug takers.
