Not Houses that are bland, but four cottages - called Bland Houses - were on this site from the mid 1880's. During the WW2 they were badly damaged by some bombs, probably dropped by mistake from a German Bomber flying up the Don Valley towards the Steel Works at Stocksbridge. One of the Cottages was re-built but was soon abandoned. Just a gatepost and some ruined walls are left. The removal of some trees and bushes has made the site a little more visible ... but probably not for long.
