Although the OS maps show Pix Brook as a continuous blue line through the common and a footbridge over at this point, the brook actually goes underground before emerging several hundred feet further downstream and west. At this point it reminds me of the old folk song: "Please take me where / the sweet river Aire / bubbles and sparkles through Leeds".
