Dark clouds are hanging over the future of this government flagship City Academy. Sorry I couldn't resist that. Teessides's local paper, the Evening Gazette, reported on 10 October 2008 that the private sponsor, Amey Plc., is considering withdrawing its sponsorship. Since its opening in 2003 the school has had a turbulent life, failing its Ofsted report two years later along with needing a further government cash injection of a half a million pounds.
