West Midlands Police - Kingstanding Neighbourhood

To work with Road Safety partners within West Midlands Police and outside agencies to promote safer roads in Kingstanding, especially around schools.

The team has conducted multiple Speedwatch operations in locations in and around Perry Common Rd, in response to residents concerns regarding street racing and road safety. Enforceable actions have been taken against parking violations and other traffic related offences, reflecting our commitment to addressing the issues that matter most to the local community.

Ensure residents of Kingstanding feel safe and reassured in their lives by providing regular contact with their Neighbourhood Team and having officers be as visible as possible where needed.

There has been a focus on high-visibility patrols by officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), both on foot and by bicycle.The team has coordinated a series of community engagement initiatives, including the deployment of the Mobile Police Station now on two occasions, we also requested an Antisocial Behaviour (ASB) survey, There have been a number of Cuppa with a Copper and a community walkabout with local partners.

multiple Police events have been carried out in the area such as (Cuppa with a Copper) to get community views . We have increased patrols in the Wyrley Birch area and surrounding neighbourhoods to proactively address persistent incidents of antisocial behaviour making multiple arrests, particularly during key periods in the afternoon and evenings. These enhanced patrols focus on improving police visibility, responding to concerns raised by local residents and engaging with young people in the community.

I have taken over as the Supervisor of the Kingstanding NHT as of last week 05/01/2026.
The Team are linking in with other agencies such as the Council and the Fire Service and we will be mounting speed watch operations and targeting anti-social parking especially around the schools in the area.

The Team will be analysing crime trends, reports of anti-social behaviour and concerns raised by residents at the community engagement events.
I am looking forward to getting out there meeting members of the community and trying to make a positive difference.

To work with Road Safety partners within West Midlands Police and outside agencies to promote safer roads in Kingstanding, especially around schools.

The Team have been working with members of the community conducting Community Speed Watch events where drivers exceeding the speed limit have been warned and had letters sent out to them.
On 21/03/2026 we conducted a Speed Watch Operation in conjunction with Perry Barr Fire Station. In a two hour period we stopped 12 vehicles exceeding the speed limit. One driver is being prosecuted for driving at 46 mph in a 30 mph area, a delivery driver had his vehicle seized and is being prosecuted for no licence, no insurance and no MOT. A driver with young children in the car is being prosecuted for not having them restrained or having child seats for them. The other drivers who were slightly exceeding the speed limit were handed over to the fire service who had virtual reality head sets and were showing them the aftermath of driving at excessive speed or driving whilst distracted so hopefully they take something away from this in terms of education.
In all it was a very successful event which we aim to repeat again in the near future.

For a long time on the team we have been very short staffed but we have now got more officers on the team and they intend making a positive impact to the area.

Additionally we have conducted joint operations around the Kingstanding circle with our traffic team and Perry Barr NHT team resulting in a number of drivers being warned, fined and prosecuted. We continue to conduct patrols around school times in order to ensure roads are safe for children coming and going to schools.

Neighbourhood officers have been continuously engaged and visible within the community. Officers are regularly out in vehicles and bikes in order to act as a deterrent for any possible crime or anti social behaviour. We also continue with our cuppa with a coppa events and use this as a means to engage with our communities. We continue to work closely with council and other partner agencies to make streets safer.

ASB is a persistent issue within the Wyrley Birch with officers actively identifying and engaging with those involved in anti social behaviour and completing referrals and corrective measures in order to tackle these types of behaviours. We are continuing with community engagement in the form of cuppa with a coppa events and this will be ongoing. We have now completed a number of community pop up meetings at the leisure centre.
