Under 25 serious youth violence

Under 25 violence has again been raised as a priority at our recent BCRP meeting which last took place on Friday 14th November

Under 25 violence is both a local and force priority.

The team will continue visible patrols in hotspot areas where serious youth violence is likely to occur. During patrols positive action will be taken by officers including enforcement (Arrest), stop and search, making referrals and other methods that will prevent and deter youths from committing acts of serious violence.

ASB (street drinking / aggressive begging.)

The team continue to focus on this priority which was again raised at our recent BCRP meeting which last took place on Friday 14th November however it has been noted that over the last few weeks we have seen a significant decrease in calls from members of the public.

The locations identified within the area include:
1 - High Street / Duchess Parade
2 -Oak Road.
3 - St Micheal Street.
4- Lodge Road Tram Stop.

In response to the issues raised, despite fewer calls, the team will continue to conduct patrols at the above locations at the relevant / identified times with partners including BID officers and EPO's.

Business Crime - predominately 'theft from shop / robbery'

The team continue to focus on this priority which was again raised at our recent BCRP meeting which last took place on Friday 14th November

Over the past few weeks the team have made a significant number of arrests in relation to shop theft and the team are proactively trying to apprehend outstanding shop theft suspects. We also have a number of operations planned with local businesses over the coming months- this will include both plain clothes and uniformed patrols.

A recent arrest of note relates to the arrest of a male responsible for a number of shop thefts across the West Bromwich Town Centre area, along with a number of assaults which occurred when the male assaulted the security officer in his efforts to escape - This male was charged and remanded to the next available court with criminal behaviour order being applied for, I will update you with the outcome as soon as possible.

Newton Ward - ASB/Begging - Scott Arms, Great Barr

A joint operation took place with partners on 16th September, two people were served Community Protection Notices. A number of business were spoken too who have noted a marked reduction in aggressive begging at the Scott Arms.

My team continue to work with local business to reduce the number of Theft of Motor Vehicle and Theft From Motor Vehicle Offences

Hateley Heath Ward - Under 18 Anti-Social Behaviour - Including the library, The Heights and open grassland

My Team regularly attend joint meeting at the library to discuss ASB which has been low over the summer. We undertake patrols at the heights. One person remains on bail relating to the grassland fires being investigated by my team.

Charlomont with Grove Vale Ward - Drug Dealing

My team are working with local authority ASB teams to reduce drug dealing

Newton Ward - ASB/Begging - Scott Arms, Great Barr

A joint meeting was held last month with local partners to discuss ongoing work at the location. My team continue to patrol the location and enforce conditions by serving civil injunctions.

Great Barr and Yewtree Ward - Theft of Motor Vehicle

My team continue to work with local business to reduce the number of Theft of Motor Vehicle and Theft From Motor Vehicle Offences On 12th December 2025 we met with the local authority and Hotel Inn at Great Barr to aet up Hotel Watch and discuss crime prevention. West Midlands Police have arrested three offenders linked to organised car thefts at the Holiday Inn and continue to investigate.

Charlomont with Grove Vale Ward - Drug Dealing

My team are working with local authority ASB teams to reduce drug dealing. My team have made a number of arrests in the area and served a community protection warning on identified offender. We continue to patrol the location and welcome community engagement.

My team continue to patrol the location both in uniform and plain clothes. We have identified a number of offenders at the location committing ASB and will work with the local authority and education establishment to civil actions against those. We continue to work with Midlands Heart around the security of the location.
