PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Rohingya: Refugees (10 January 2018)
Question Asked
Asked by:
Dr Rosena Allin-Khan (Labour)
Answer
The UK led the way in the scale and speed of our response to the refugee crisis in Bangladesh and remains one of the largest donors. Since August 25th DFID has stepped up efforts with an additional £59 million to support refugees and the communities hosting them in Bangladesh. We have also provided £1 million to the Red Cross and £2 million to the World Food Programme (WFP) to provide assistance in northern Rakhine, and stand ready to provide more once access restrictions are lifted. This brings the UK’s contribution to £62 million.
