To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what assessment she has made of the adequacy of parental consultation before schools convert to academies.

Answer
The Academies Programme is key to driving up academic standards in our education system.
Governing bodies are required to conduct a statutory consultation, as part of the conversion process, the outcome of which is taken into account in deciding whether to enter into a funding agreement with the Secretary of State.
