PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
ECOLABELLING (9 May 1994)
Motion Details
That this House shares the concerns voiced by the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection that the new Ecolabelling scheme will allow animal tested products to be awarded the Ecolabel; is further concerned that animal welfare issues have not been included in the criteria used to award consumer products the Ecolabel; recognises that many consumers equate animal welfare issues with environmental issues; believes that if unamended the new labelling scheme will lead to consumer confusion; and therefore calls upon the Government to take urgent action to prevent animal tested products from being awarded the Ecolabel under this scheme.
