PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
RE-SETTLEMENT OF PEOPLE WITH LEARNING DIFFICULTIES (8 June 1992)
Motion Details
That this House welcomes the publication of the Values into Action Report When the Eagles Fly, on the resettlement of people with learning difficulties from long-stay institutions; notes that the report highlights the chaos and confusion in services for people with learning difficulties particularly arising from the introduction of trusts and contracting for services within health care; recognises that the process of closure of mental handicap hospitals and their replacement by community services is on the verge of collapse; and calls upon the Government to provide the necessary leadership and funding to ensure the proper provision of good quality community services for all people with learning difficulties.
