PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
DOWNGRADING OF CROWN POST OFFICES (20 April 1993)
Motion Details
That this House congratulates Post Office Counters Limited in setting targets for Crown offices to improve the quality of service provided to customers by aiming to serve 95 per cent. of all customers within five minutes of arriving at the office; notes that the length of queues and waiting times are monitored by branch managers or their assistants at least four times a day, who also ensure that adequate staffing levels are provided in line with the business's own 'Customer's Charter'; regrets that these practices are rarely carried out in town sub-post offices or in the modified post office status offices; and calls on the President of the Board of Trade to ensure that proper training and staffing levels are maintained and that Crown post offices such as the Garston Crown Post Office are not downgraded and can continue to provide the level of service established in the 'Customer's Charter' and the Post Office Counters' own 'Code of Practice'.
