PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
TREATMENT OF DEPARTMENT FOR WORK AND PENSIONS EMPLOYEES IMPLEMENTING UNIVERSAL CREDIT (19 July 2015)
Motion Details
That this House condemns the employment practices of the Department for Work and Pensions in imposing new working conditions without consultation with unions in an attempt to rush out the universal credit system; notes that the PCS Union balloted members in Bolton and Glasgow on strike action, with 90 per cent of the 84 per cent who responded backing the action; calls on the Department to lead by example and recognise that repeatedly overburdening hardworking staff is counter-productive and that working with unions is important for working relations; and further calls on the Department not to unilaterally deviate from long-standing work procedures in order to rush through universal credit.
