PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
CHILD TAX CREDITS (27 June 2010)
Motion Details
That this House believes the increase of 150 in the per child element of child tax credit does not adequately compensate low-income families for the abolition of the Sure Start Maternity Grant, the Health in Pregnancy Grant and the removal of the additional baby element of child tax credit; further believes that these means of financial assistance represent real help for pregnant women and families with young children; further believes that such individuals have been disproportionately targeted by over 3 billion of cuts in support for families, including cuts in child benefit, child tax credits, child trust funds and help for pregnant mothers; and is concerned that the Government's proposals may negatively impact upon child poverty.
