PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
THE ROYAL SOCIETY OF CHEMISTRY'S PARLIAMENTARY LINKS DAY 2001 (24 June 2001)

Motion Details

That this house congratulates The Royal Society of Chemistry on holding its Parliamentary Links Day at the House on Tuesday 26th June and on its continuing commitment to serve the public interest by seeking to improve the access of honourable Members to scientific information and a better understanding of science; notes that the Society's pioneering Parliamentary links Scheme, which provides information and briefing on chemistry-related scientific subjects, is open to Right Honourable and honourable Members on all sides of the House; further notes the extensive educational activity of the society to promote high quality chemistry teaching and education at all levels; applauds the involvement this year of so many of the UK's greatest science and engineering organisations including the Royal Society, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Science Council, the Engineering Council, the Institute of Physics, the Institute of Biology,Save British Science, the Institute of British Engineers, and many others within the science and engineering community; welcomes the expertise and assistance that these eminent bodies can give to Parliament; and welcomes the contribution that Parliamentary Links days makes to maintaining a dialogue between Parliament and the science and engineering community on scientific issues.
