Humberside Police - Hessle Neighbourhood

Shop Theft

Hessle Shop Watch is now up and running. Regular engagements will be conducted by PC and PCSO for the ward, to help tackle offending in the Hessle area. Shop watch meeting to be conducted with each participating shop to discuss repeat offenders and crime prevention advice. Patch walks conducted regularly in the Hessle Square area to increase visible presence. Identify offenders and actively look to apprehend by arrest attempts.

Vehicle ASB Hessle Forehsore

Multi agency meeting with residents of the area will be held on 18/08/25 to discuss residents concerns and conduct a joint agency response. Increase patrols in the area around the times identified as problem periods, with a view to take appropriate police action where offences identified. Encourage reporting of anti-social behaviour to the council as per the PSPO. Request to traffic patrols to assist with conducting patrols when able.

Hessle/Ferriby Foreshore Exposures - ongoing

There will be continued patrols along the foreshore areas, both high visibility and plain clothes.

Shop Theft

Overall, there has been a continued reduction in the amount of thefts reported in Hessle. We will continue to hold regular shop watch meetings and increase patch walks in the Hessle Square area over the coming weeks and months. We will work closely with the Hessle Civic CCTV on The Square to see if offenders can be seen and identified around the times of the thefts for stores involved.

Vehicle ASB Hessle Forehsore

There has been a reduction in reported ASB incidents in the last period, which may partially be due to the colder weather and darker nights. There will be a continued patrolling of the Foreshore on evenings where demand allows and positive enforcement where necessary.

Operation Yuletide

Operation Yuletide is Humberside Police's coordinated festive-season strategy, starting 1 December, focused on boosting patrols, reducing crime spikes, protecting vulnerable individuals, and working closely with local partners to ensure a safer Christmas and New Year. We will be increasing patrols in the town centre and other locations linked to Anti-social behaviour.

Throughout the following weeks and months patrols will continue to show high visibility where needed and to monitor the number of vehicles in the area and to deal with any offences positively.

Anti-Social Behaviour

There have been a couple of reported incidents of vandalism which is reportedly by a couple of young children who have been the source of anti-social behaviour. This tends to occur after school times and during the weekends. Plans for increased police presence via foot patrol in the area at key times and to engage with individuals involved to identify them.

Theft

There have been a couple of clusters of theft from motor vehicle incidents in Hessle, where several vehicles were either entered and had items taken from within or had the door handles tried. One offender was arrested and charged following one run of incidents on one day. The offender for the other incident was not identified. Over the coming weeks and months patrols will pay passing attention to the area at identified times as well as encouraging residents to report any incidents. Leaflet drops of signs to leave in the vehicles which say they do not have any valuables inside. We will also use social media pages to issue advice about securing vehicles and not leaving valuables inside the vehicles.

Anti-Social Behaviour - Hessle Square / Tower Hill

Patrols continue to give attention in the area where a number of problems are being caused by youths congregating near take-away premises. Nearby CCTV is being used to try and identify those responsible.

E-scooters / off-road electric bikes on public roads

In the Force area there have been 2 recent serious injury Road Traffic Collisions which highlights the problems which can result from the use of these vehicles. Patrols will take action accordingly. This can mean a Court appearance for the rider, and confiscation of the vehicle.
