PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
Young Homeless (20 December 1989)
Motion Details
That this House is concerned that increasing numbers of young people who cannot live at home have been adversely affected by recent social security legislation, can no longer afford basic accommodation and are therefore becoming homeless; urges that these vulnerable young people are given the means to gain accommodation; and calls upon the Secretary of State to amend the regulations to enable those young people living independently from their families who are not yet on YTS, or in employment, to receive income support and housing benefit at the same rate as over 25's and to pay income support in advance and not in arrears.
