PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
Palestinian Intifada (7 December 1989)
Motion Details
That this House notes that 9th December will be the second anniversary of the Palestinian Intifada in the territories illegally occupied by the Israeli Defence Forces, during which time thousands of Palestinians have been arrested and detained, houses and crops have been destroyed, over 900 Palestinians have been killed of whom 132 were children under the age of 17 years and 37 children under the age of 13 years; further notes that Israel's continuing breaches of the Geneva Convention have been condemned by the international community; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to use every effort to persuade the Government of Israel to cease its unlawful occupation of the Gaza Strip and West Bank and to participate in an international peace conference which will allow the Palestinians to determine their own future.
