PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
WINTER PAYMENTS TO PENSIONERS (3 December 1997)

Motion Details

That this House is alarmed to learn that the Secretary of State for Social Security was unable to confirm in a written answer to the honourable Member for Sutton and Cheam that the extra money announced by the Chancellor for pensioners will be paid out before the end of December; is surprised to learn that in a further written answer the Secretary of State admits that the regulations bringing into force the Chancellor's announcement are still being drafted; and urges the Government to expedite these payments and explain why there is a lack of co-ordination between the Treasury and the Department of Social Security.
