25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ARRIVAL OF THE UGANDAN ASIANS (1 December 1997)

Motion Details

That this House notes that 1997 marks the 25th anniversary of the arrival of Ugandan Asians in Britain following their expulsion from Uganda by Idi Amin in 1972; further notes that most of them arrived from Uganda with no possessions; congratulates them in light of this on their achievement in building up a thriving and successful community that has become a great asset to Britain in economic, social and cultural terms; and welcomes their contribution towards the creation of an enriched multicultural Britain.
