PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
THE CONSERVATIVE OPPOSITION (5 February 1998)

Motion Details

leave out from 'with' to end and add 'those commentators who have observed that the Leader of the Opposition has concentrated on serious issues at Prime Minister's Questions, includind the constitution, Northern Ireland, pensions, unemployment, European regulations, welfare reform, farm incomes and Iraq, that the Prime Minister resents being asked questions and frequently resorts to childish abuse, that the Leader of the Opposition has made serious and thoughtful speeches on subjects including the family, welfare reform and European Monetary Union, that the House has debated Conservative Opposition Day motions on the Green Belt and London Underground, that the Liberal Democrats are more interested in securing places on Cabinet committees than becoming a credible opposition themselves and that the Conservative Opposition is pursuing its duty in holding the Government vigorously to account.'.
