Modern post box on the Skerries
The new postbox has retained the information from the old, explaining that delays are inevitable to mail posted here.Image The original postbox provided the same warning.Image Chris Downer who photographed the original box Image]has remarked that this is a new box that has the design of an English Postbox and not a new Scottish one that has a different crown and does not recognize EIIR. The new Scottish box is shown here Image], photographed by Chris Downer at Gribun on the Isle of Mull.

Out Skerries: the post office
The West Isle Shop (the Skerries have two shops) contains the post office, open for three hours on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. The branch is actually called simply Skerries, the common shortened name of the islands.

Out Skerries: postbox № ZE2 125
This postbox stands outside the post office (Image]) and seems to have a duplicate number with the one at Ollaberry Post Office on the Royal Mail's list. (Perhaps that's why its repainting seems to have been overlooked!) Because of its remote location, it has restricted collection times: see Image

Jetty, Housay, Out Skerries
For such an isolated and exposed place, the Out Skerries provide some good sheltered inlets. This view looking east from near the island post office.
