Reform Lane, formerly Tait's Closs, Lerwick - (West)
Reform Lane, named after the Great Reform Act of 1832 and was formerly called Tait's Closs. (Note: There were later Reform Acts in 1867,1872,1884,1885,1918 and 1928 but as most of these Closses were renamed in 1845, the earliest act is almost certainly the one after which this lane was renamed.) This western section of the lane runs roughly southwestwards from Commercial Street through to Hillhead. It is opposite the western section of the same lane Image]
