Old milestone, A1238 Leeds Road, Selby
This is the very eroded backing stone for the 1 mile from Selby milestone on the A63 Selby to Leeds road, the Selby Leeds turnpike of 1741 - 1874. The protruding metal attachment was taken off in May 2016, painted and then given to Selby Highways. A new backing stone was to be found or a concrete one made. The whole would be put back by the roadside opposite the Selby town sign. 2020, the old backing stone stands forlorn on the verge.

Old Milestone by the A63. Leeds Road, Selby
Metal plate attached to stone post by the A63, in parish of SELBY (SELBY District), West of last house in Selby on slight bend; opposite sign for Selby, on South side of road. TP iron casting, erected by the Leeds & Selby turnpike trust in the 18th century.
Inscription reads:-

Carved benchmark on left side.

Flying swan near Halfway House
I didn't get the camera ready in time to do justice to the swan, so it's more a general landscape shot. Halfway House is on the road between Selby and Thorpe Willoughby.
