Former shipbuilder's yard, Selby
The gate of the former yard of Cochrane Shipbuilders Ltd. The site faces onto the River Ouse and vessels were launched sideways as the river is not wide enough for an end on launch.

Sedalcol, Selby
This plant was a former citric acid factory but now is a distillery producing grain alcohol. Virtually the whole site is new but the boiler house and chimney appears to have been retained. The site has variously been owned by J & E Sturge, Haarman and Reimer and latterly Tate & Lyle. Tate & Lyle were forced to discontinue citric acid production in 2007 due to cheaper material being dumped on the market. This shows distillation plant that looks more like an oil refinery than a spirit distillery. I visited the old plant to see a Belliss and morcom steam engine that drove an alternator but was out of use. The engine still survives at Markham Grange Nursery near Brodsworth - Image
