The former Royal Oak pub, Ousegate, Selby
Later called the Riverside Image but now closed. The building to the left seen in the earlier photo has also now been demolished, but the former pub is grade II listed (list entry 1365802). The building dates from the 18th century, earlier than many of the surrounding buildings erected when the railway brought prosperity to the town.

Former industrial building, Ousegate, Selby
The nearer building is the former Dowler Williamson works, Grade II listed (list entry 1132522). The listing just dates it to 'mid 19th century'; it doesn't appear on the 1849 map that shows a smaller 'Custom House' on part of the site but does appear by 1891 where it is described as an 'agricultural implement works'. The upper floor is now the River Mills Ballroom, and the ground floor hosts St Leonard's Hospice charity shop.
