The water appears clear, but one wonders about the water quality with a huge cattle farm upstream with large slurry pit and slurry spread across nearby fields.

The caravan route
This is not some exotic route followed by caravans of camels loaded with spices from Central Asia, but is the approved route for caravans [of the metal variety] travelling from Thirsk towards Helmsley as the A170 up or down Sutton Bank is banned for such vehicles.
