Kirkgate [north end]
Some of the most interesting buildings in Thirsk are along this street, culminating in the impressive parish church at the northern end. The Cross Keys pub on the right has some evidence of timber framing in its construction.

Old pollarded willow at The Batts in Thirsk. Several willows here show signs of having been pollarded or coppiced in order to provide new shoots suitable for use in the former basket making industry in the town.

Cod Beck at Thirsk
Looking upstream along the beck towards the tower of St Mary's parish church. The beck may look languid on a fine May morning, but in recent years it has caused serious flooding in Millgate and Finkle Street on several occasions.

Remembrance Day poppies at St Mary's Church
A view of some of the thousands of poppies that were hand knitted and placed around the churches of St Mary in Thirsk and St Oswald in Sowerby in time for Remembrance Day 2016. Individual poppies attached to street furniture formed a link between the two churches.
