'Little Green', Thirsk
This is really the southern end of St James's Green in Old Thirsk, and is preferable to the main part of the green which is bisected by a main road. The town's pinfold once stood a few yards from the photo position.

Disused Filling Station, Thirsk
On the old A19, this filling station has stood empty for a very long time as evidenced by the price at 68p per litre of "four star" - predating unleaded fuel, when you got two or four star petrol.

Long Street, Thirsk
A major N-S route through the town [A61] and busy with traffic. The street is an odd mix of residential and commercial, of the smart and the decaying. With a little more thought and some landscaping, this could be an attractive thoroughfare.

Converted school on Long Street
Built in 1841 as the British and Foreign School and now used for commercial purposes. This could still be an attractive building, but the modern entrance [left] and the large area of tarmac rather spoils the scene.

Old Gravestone near St. James Green
All of the legible graves here pre-date the red brick methodist church that is now on this site.
