The inscription on Nelson's Gate
"To the memory of Lord Viscount Nelson and the unparalleled gallant achievements of the British Navy" On the other side of the arch is a different inscription, however I found it too difficult to make out.

Telephone box, Sproxton
K6 telephone box beside the minor road in the village. In 1935, the Post Office commissioned a new kiosk from Sir Giles Gilbert Scott to celebrate the Jubilee of King George V. The K6 Jubilee Kiosk, as it is known, was similar to the K2 box, being made of cast iron and painted red but was 25% lighter in weight. By the end of the 1930s there were 20,000 K6 telephone boxes in use all over the UK.

Known locally as the church that moved a mile, St Chad's at Sproxton was originally Lord Feversham's chapel at Newton Grange. It was moved, stone by stone, to its present site in 1879.
