Aldby Park, Buttercrambe
Looking across the River Derwent to Aldby Park, a fine early Georgian country house dating from 1726. Built of brick, with a three bay stone section in the centre.

The house is best known for being the ancestral home of the Darley family. Jane Darley owned the celebrated Darley Arabian horse which is widely recognised as being an ancestor of most of the world's thoroughbred race horses. The horse was sourced in Aleppo, where Thomas Darley was a merchant.
