Suburban semis, Heworth
Once Heworth was a village on the edge of York, but the expansion of the city eventually saw it swallow up the village. This area around Oakland Avenue is typical of speculative building development between the wars, with pairs of semidetached houses set back on spacious avenues. These were developed around 1937-39.
