York Townscape : Clifton Bingo Club, 52-54 Clifton, York
Formerly the Clifton Cinema. A quick trawl of the internet suggests that the Clifton Cinema was the work of the architect Frederick Dyer (biographical details unknown) and opened on the 17th November 1937. It was closed on the 17th October 1964 and was immediately converted to a bingo hall. Apparently, it had 1,150 seats in stalls and a single balcony and had a large cafe/ballroom above the entrance foyer.
