Old milestone
At the northeast end of Long Marston on the B1224 is another West Riding CC 1893/94 milestone. Some of the WRCC metal attachments have the maker's name cast onto the bevel but the milestones on the road from York to Wetherby are anonymous. At some time the backing stone had been painted white then grey but this is now flaking off. The metal was painted in July 2012 by two Milestone Society members from York.
