Viaduct over the Esk
Larpool viaduct carried the former Scarborough to Whitby railway line over the river, and is now used by a foot and cycle path. The view over the parapet is down on new house with a good view across the Esk. Exactly as shown on the map.

Blocked opening on the viaduct
The gap in the brickwork of the parapet of Larpool Viaduct is blocked by this solid looking metal plate. The viaduct is a 13 arch structure, 305 yards long, carrying the dismantled Whitby to Scarborough railway line up to 120 feet high above the river. The line opened in 1885 and closed in 1965 and is now a footpath and cycleway, the Cinder Track. The viaduct is listed, grade II, with brief details at: https://www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1366577
