Running round at Whitby
At the time of the photo, shunting of North Yorkshire Moors Railway trains had to be done outside the station. The layout has now been changed, with the original 2nd platform being brought back into use and running round being done within the station.

NYMR Diesel Train Arriving at Whitby
Ex-British Rail class 25 (Sulzer type 2) diesel locomotive D7628 hauls a NYMR train into Whitby Station. The locomotive was one of the last batch of its type to be built by Beyer Peacock in Manchester, entering service at Tinsley in October 1965. It was withdrawn from service in March 1987.

Former County Hotel, Gray Street
This former hotel at the junction of Gray Street and North Road has now been converted into apartments. The name 'County Hotel' can still be made out centrally between the 2nd and 3rd storeys.

The Former Engine Shed, off Esk Terrace
This grade II listed former engine shed, was built in 1847 for the Whitby and Pickering Railway Company. Constructed of ashlar with ashlar dressings, slate roofs with overhanging eaves,and a continuous raised ventilator and single gable stack. LBS Number: 438017 South front has 2 large round headed engine openings, with flush ashlar surrounds. See right of picture Image
