Merchant Adventurers' Hall, York
The rear of the hall, including the entrance. The medieval guildhall was one of the most important buildings in the York of that time. Most of it was built in 1357 by a group of influential men and women who came together to form a religious fraternity. It is the largest timber-framed building in the UK still standing and used for its original purpose. It is open as a museum and can also be hired for special occasions.

Merchents Hell
The medieval 'a' looks rather like a modern 'e'.
This is the gatehouse on Fossgate to the passage leading to the Hall itself. It dates from the mid 17th century, the doorcase and coat of arms being added in 1854. Listed Grade II*.
