Friargate House
Eighteenth century properties on Castlegate, with unusual gables on Friargate House. This was once the main thoroughfare from the city centre to the south east, until superseded by the construction of Clifford Street in 1881.

Former Technical College, Clifford Street, York
By W.G. Penty, 1883-84, for the York Institute of Art, Science and Literature. Running along the top of the balustrade is a series of mini-cupolas. Grand Romanesque entrance (Image]). Grade II listed.
Now home to the York Dungeon.
