York cats 7
I last photographed this pub in February 2009, at which time there was no resident cat on the wall. Since then one has appeared, although it is not easy to spot. The position of the cat makes it appear to be investigating the guttering above the left hand ground floor window.

Merchant Adventurers' Crest, York
This is over the entrance to the Merchant Adventurer's Hall. The carved inscription on the door lintel reads 'Merchant's Hall'. Just how the light streaks in the stone around the 'n' arose I don't know - I hope they have been seen to by now (this photo was taken in 1987).

Church of All Saints Pavement, York
Remarkable for its octagonal lantern at the west end, rebuilt but to an old design. A lantern used to be lit to guide travellers through the surrounding forest to the city.
