"Pavement" York
This lovely timber framed building is in the curiously named road "Pavement". The ground floor is the premises of Jones the Boot Maker, but judging by the impressive door alongside, I suspect the upper floors are separately occupied. Next door can be seen the Golden Fleece Inn.

Herbert House, Pavement, York
Built c1620 for a merchant. John Jaques. However, as is often the case with timber-framed buildings (Chester passim), the more decorative details (e.g. finials and bargeboards) belong to much later work - in this case 1926. Grade I listed.

York cats 6
One of a series of photos taken in York city centre in an effort to record all the cats that feature on buildings. There's one here on the wall of the Golden Fleece, but it is hard to see unless you have been inside and consumed a pint or two. The white cat is above the centre of the first floor window.
