Birdsall House in late Spring

Birdsall House, Birdsall
The first house dates from the early 1600s, but as is stands largely a tidying up of a historical jumble by Anthony Salvin, 1871-75, for Lord Middleton. Grade II* listed.
The house sits in a lovely park, for which the old village paid a heavy price. The listing states that the house "was the first in England to have a private gas system installed."
