A fine show of Rhododendrons in the garden can be seen from the road. To the right can be made out the ruins of the original Birdsall church, which was replaced by the current St Marys one square to the North.

Birdsall House, Birdsall
The first house dates from the early 1600s, but as is stands largely a tidying up of a historical jumble by Anthony Salvin, 1871-75, for Lord Middleton. Grade II* listed. The house sits in a lovely park, for which the old village paid a heavy price. The listing states that the house "was the first in England to have a private gas system installed."
