Cottages by the beck in Settrington
According to the description in 'The Buildings of England' [Pevsner/Neave], the village was much altered around 1800 by Sir Mark Masterman Sykes when houses were set out either side of the beck, but set well back. These cottages probably represent the former line of buildings which were much closer to the beckside, and are largely constructed of local jurassic limestones and sandstone.
