Former Malton Youth Hostel, 1986
Also known as Derwent Bank on York Road, this was a Standard Grade Youth Hostel in the 1980s, described in the YHA handbook as "Large Victorian house on bank of river Derwent, on edge of the Roman settlement of Derventio and centrally placed for York, coast, moors and Wolds." It was a YHA hostel from 1945 to 1997.

Across the river Derwent
This is just tucked into the southeast corner of the gridsquare. The nearside riverbank is clear, the far side is a wonderful tangle of vegetation, mainly trees.
