Tanner Row
Krumbs Tea Rooms in the foreground with two older properties beyond. The next building has a Georgian frontage, but the roof line would suggest that there is something older beneath. Beyond that is a timber framed house with a jettied upper storey of around 1600.

Timber framed house, North Street/Tanner Row
This timber framed house dates back to the 15th century, although it is much altered. It is of the 'Wealden' type, which is unusual this far north.

All Saints, North Street - St Thomas Window
One of ten medieval stained glass windows in this church, restored in recent years with National Lottery funding. This one dates from c.1410 and depicts the risen Christ, and to his left St Thomas confessing him as Lord and God. The figure on the right was relocated from a different window and represents Archbishop William of York who was martyred in 1154.

All Saints, North Street - Acts of Mercy Window
One of ten medieval stained glass windows in this church, restored in recent years with National Lottery funding. The 'Acts of Mercy' was a common theme in church art, and depicts people doing the things that Jesus said would assure salvation - giving clothing, food and drink to those in need, welcoming strangers, visiting the sick and those in prison; and a seventh act of mercy from medieval theology, burying the dead. This example dates from c.1410 and is a memorial to Nicholas Blackburn.
