Estate cottages, Hutton Buscel
The left one of the three cottages is dated 1843 with a shield, suggesting an estate cottage. They were evidently not all built at once, as the one on the right is dated 1846.

Old Cowgait, Hutton Buscel
This side road off the village street has an odd name; normally it would be Cowgate. The house on the right is called The Forge. If I have correctly identified the road on the 1850s 6" map, the house at the end was an endowed grammar school.

The Manor House, Hutton Buscel
Covered in attractive creepers; I hope they are not damaging the walls! The building on the right has a 'taking-in' door at first-floor level, and the datestone 'MDL 1849'.

The village street east of the church, Hutton Buscel
One feature of village streets is that the houses are often right up to the back of the footpath, although they probably have gardens behind.

House and cottage, Hutton Buscel
These demonstrate my personal definition of a cottage, having a much lower roofline than the house next door.

The roofline is unusual and made me think of Arts and Crafts period.
