Part of the north face of Ayton Bridge, West Ayton
This face is not obscured by the modern road bridge, but unfortunately trees prevent a view of all four arches. It was built in 1775 by John Carr. At that date the flood relief channel between Hackness and Scalby Ness had not been constructed, so the flood arches at the side were more necessary than they are now.
