Tudor House, Histons Hill
This is an early 20th century example of the 'Mock Tudor' house and may have helped set the fashion for the many modern housing developments. This house was designed and built by Major Kenneth H Smith between the wars. He came to this country in 1915 with the Canadian armed forces and stayed on after marrying an English girl. The house was built in the Tudor style using reclaimed materials from Lymore Hall, Montgomery Castle, Bentley Hall and an old inn in Dudley. Smith was responsible for a number of other properties in the Wolverhampton area constructed in a similar fashion.
