Tarmac Ltd - Ettingshall offices
The shared services centre of Tarmac Ltd, and head offices of the company until 2013, when the quarrying, asphalt and concrete parts of the business were merged with Lafarge UK to form Lafarge Tarmac Trading. The 2-storey block nearest to the camera was part of the original offices, dating from the early 1900s, to which the more distant buildings were added in the 1960s, and then another floor added in the 1970s. Those of us who have spent much of our working lives in this complex await the next developments here with interest, and a certain amount of chagrin.

These are the original offices and depot in Ettingshall. The main offices moved into central Wolverhampton and to Hilton Hall. Although now split into Tarmac and Carillion they both remain as major employers in the city.

We reckon, at 16.5m high and 35m wide, it's the country's biggest England Flag, and will 'fly' as long as the team is in South Africa for the World Cup. So that may be just a day or so longer...
