Royal Oak - Compton Road
An unusual shaped but traditional pub sign celebrating King Charles II's escape from Roundhead troopers after the Battle of Worcester in September 1651 by hiding in an Oak Tree at Boscobel, Shropshire. The King was a young man when the incident occurred: this depiction shows an gaunt figure.
