Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, towards Newbridge, Wolverhampton
This tranquil autumn scene required a slight "lean" through the girders of Meccano Bridge. The canal links the River Severn at Stourport with the Trent and Mersey canal at Great Haywood - 46 miles. It was engineered by James Brindley and opened in 1772. Here it passes through the Smestow Valley Nature Reserve, a valuable leisure amenity for the City of Wolverhampton.
